Privacy Policy

Last updated 15 August 2026

Your shifts, tips, hours and jobs are stored on your phone and are never sent to us. We have no server to send them to, and no account for you to create.

What Closeout stores, and where

Everything you enter — jobs, wages, shifts, tips, tip-outs, sales, notes and goals — is written to a database file inside the app on your device. It is covered by your iPhone's own encryption and by whatever backup you have configured with Apple. We cannot read it, and we never receive a copy.

Deleting the app deletes that data. So does Settings → Reset all data inside Closeout. Neither is reversible, because there is no copy anywhere else.

What we do not do

Purchases

Closeout offers an optional paid subscription. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card number, billing address or Apple ID.

To check whether a subscription is active, we use RevenueCat, a service that validates App Store receipts on our behalf. RevenueCat receives the purchase receipt and an anonymous identifier generated for the install. It does not receive your name, your email, or any of your shift or tip data. This is the only information Closeout sends off your device, and it exists to answer one question: is this subscription active?

Reminders

If you turn on the nightly reminder, your phone schedules it locally. No reminder passes through a server, and Closeout does not use push notifications.

Exports

When you export a CSV or a PDF tax summary, the file is created on your device and handed to the iOS share sheet. Where it goes next is your choice — email, Files, AirDrop, another app. Once you send it somewhere, that destination's privacy policy applies, not this one. We never receive exported files.

Diagnostics

If you have opted in to sharing crash and performance data with developers in your iOS privacy settings, Apple may give us anonymised crash reports. That is an Apple setting, controlled by you, and those reports contain no shift or tip data.

How long it is kept

Your data stays on your device until you delete it. There is no retention schedule on our side because there is nothing on our side. RevenueCat keeps purchase records for as long as your subscription history is needed to validate it, under their own policy.

Security

Your data sits inside the app's own storage on your iPhone, protected by iOS and by your device passcode or Face ID. We hold no copy, which also means there is no database of ours that can be breached. If you back your phone up to iCloud or a computer, that backup follows Apple's protections and your own settings.

Children

Closeout is intended for people old enough to be legally employed and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your data, your control

Because your information never leaves your phone, there is no account for us to delete and no export for us to send you — you already hold the only copy. Closeout's export feature gives you everything in a portable format whenever you want it.

Privacy rights where you live

Laws in some places — California, Colorado, Virginia, the UK, the EU and others — give you the right to see, correct, export or delete the personal information a company holds about you, and to know whether it is sold or shared.

We hold none, so there is nothing for us to show, correct, export or delete, and nothing is ever sold or shared. You can exercise every one of those rights yourself from inside the app: your data is visible on screen, editable, exportable as CSV or PDF, and removable with Settings → Reset all data. If you want that confirmed in writing, email us and we will confirm it.

Apple's role

Downloads, payments and subscription management all happen through the App Store. Apple's own privacy policy governs what Apple collects when you buy or download anything, including this app, and we have no control over or access to that.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your device, we will update the date at the top and describe the change here. If Closeout ever adds cloud backup or sync, it will be an explicit, opt-in feature — never something switched on for you.
